A stretch for rounded shoulders

November 1, 2021

This month I am sharing a stretch that is very beneficial to me. It encourages the shoulders to open, thereby opening the chest and helping to improve posture. As a result, upper back pain may decrease as well.

Let's stretch

What you need: Just yourself!

How to stretch: I call this stretch the clock stretch. Bring your entire right side body against a wall. Reach your right arm overhead, palm facing the wall. Keep as much of your side body against the wall as possible. Your right hand is now at 12:00. Hold here for 1 minute. Tick your hand back to 1:00, and hold for 1 minute. Repeat for 2:00, 3:00, and 4:00. Step away from the wall and notice the difference between your right and left sides. Then repeat the entire clock stretch on the left side.

Happy stretching!
