I hope you are enjoying this beautiful, chilly weather. I've been adding even more warmth to the outdoor massage area. I now have a table warmer and a strong patio heater to keep you warm on the chilly days. The tent is partial enclosed to help trap the heat while also allowing plenty of air flow.
Now to the important part - our stretch of the month. If you're like me, you might try to do everything at 100% all the time. Over the years, I have pushed myself in unproductive and harmful ways. I have tried to run 5 miles after a year long running hiatus, I have tried to take an ashtanga yoga class after years of no yoga, and I have tried to take an advanced ballet class after a decade of not dancing. Needless to say, none of that went well. It's taken me a while to learn that going full force isn't always the best. This philosophy can apply to stretching as well.

How to stretch: This month, take your favorite stretch and perform it in a different way. Stretch at 20% of your full stretch and hold the stretch for 2 minutes.
Be gentle: If your body becomes uncomfortable within those 2 minutes, stop. This is an indication that you are stretching too intensely. If you are sore the next day, this is also an indication that you are stretching too intensely. Next time, try stretching at 10-15%.
Benefits: Stretching in this way will help release the fascia, a web of connective tissue that runs through and around our muscles and organs. Notice the difference in your muscles' efficiency when your fascia is released.
